Dear Mr. Perez,

Hello, my name is Glenn. I recently received your book “I Lived to tell about it”, from my fiancée Karen. She heard you speak at the Lighthouse Ministries and after listening to your story she said it reminded her of me. Mr. Perez, I have to agree. Your book really touched my heart and I can relate to you in so many ways. Especially about the way your father treated you at a young age. While reading the part about your father I started to cry because like you, I was so use to being beat that the beatings didn’t even hurt anymore. My life became just like my heart, cold. And I started to not care if I lived or died. I use to pray to God that he wouldn’t wake me up for another day. My Fiancée has been praying and fighting for me since we got together. But I have a problem trusting and believing in people. I am so new in faith Mr. Perez, it scares me to believe in anything because I only ever trusted in me. I’ve been reading the gospel everyday and praying also because I want to find peace and happiness, but sometimes I get frustrated cause I don’t think God hears me. I am really putting 100% into this Mr. Perez, but it just doesn’t feel like my prayers will ever be answered. Can you tell me why this is? There are so many questions I want to ask, but I don’t want to sound crazy. I just know that after reading your story, my faith has strengthened in so many ways. Your story was very inspiring. Thank you for helping me to realize that even though in my past I was a lot of things, and I’ve made many mistakes, I can have peace, love and happiness in my life. But most importantly I’ve found that forgiveness in myself.

Mr. Perez, I’d like to say thank you again. You have truly opened my heart and my eyes to God.
